ABC International Bank plc (ABCIB) was established in 1991 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bahrain-based Arab Banking Corporation. The core business of ABCIB comprises trade finance and commodity finance, Islamic financial services, project, export, structured finance and treasury services.
A replacement Audit Committee Chair is now sought to join the Bank in early 2016 to replace the current Chair who is stepping down from the Board having completed their full term. The Board is seeking to appoint a new INED, who can bring relevant skills to perform the role of Chair of the Audit Committee, as well as independent judgement and a fresh perspective to the overall running of the Bank. You will be required to attend a minimum of four Board meetings per year as well as sit on three other sub committees. This means that, including Board, committee meetings, training and information gathering, the time commitment expected is 3-4 days per month.
A strong business leader and proven chairman, you will have outstanding influencing and communication skills, to enable you to challenge constructively and help develop proposals on strategy, while satisfying yourself regarding audit requirements and the monitoring of the Bank’s performance, to ensure it achieves its ambitious goals. You will have held a main Board role within financial services including serving on an Audit Committee or will have had significant contact with Audit Committees in financial services in the capacity of senior professional advisor. Recent and relevant regulated, financial experience and a relevant professional accounting qualification are essential. It would also be beneficial if candidates have operated previously within the subsidiary of an international bank.
