The Bell Foundation’s vision is to create opportunities, change lives, and overcome exclusion through language education. We are delivering this vision through two strategic programmes, “Language for Results” and “Language for Change”. Our programmes target two beneficiary groups: children with English as an additional language, and offenders with language and literacy needs.
The Foundation works both at a grassroots level, firstly through the direct delivery of programmes in schools and secondly by funding partners to deliver work with offenders in prisons and at national level, through the commissioning of research and influencing the development of policy and practice. We have grown since our beginnings in 2012 to have become a nationally credible player with ambitions to achieve both system change and practical impact on the ground.
To help us implement our ambitions we would like to recruit three new Trustees. We are looking for people with a proven record of significant achievement in their own field and experience of operating at board level. A commitment to overcoming exclusion and disadvantage and/or a background in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not essential:
- Criminal Justice, policing and rehabilitation of offenders
- Raising educational attainment
- Influencing policy and practice in either of our thematic work areas or a related field
- Scaling for greater impact
- Engaging diverse communities
We are particularly keen to continue to diversify our board and if you feel you have the enthusiasm, insight and commitment to help us increase our reach and impact, we would like to hear from you.
For a confidential conversation, having first read the Appointment Brief, please contact one of our advising consultants, Jonnie Nash, Jim Banks, or David Fielding, at Attenti on 020 7422 0620.
Closing date: Sunday 17th April 2016.
