Organisation: Bradgate Park Trust
Vacancy Type: Trustee
Deadline: 12th October 2018
Region: East Midlands

Vacancy Details

The Bradgate Park Trust cares for the internationally important landscapes of Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood and their rich wildlife, including Leicestershire's largest wild red and fallow deer herds. The heritage of the sites in our care goes back 560 million years and tells 15,000 years of human stories. We care for some of the oldest in situ fossils in the UK, the ruins of one of the most important country houses of Tudor England and many species of locally scarce wildlife. Our vision is that future generations, will enjoy, value, understand and celebrate Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood's inspiring landscapes and rich heritage. Bradgate Park is the most visited attraction in Leicestershire, welcoming over 500,000 visitors each year and in 2014 TripAdvisor named us as the 8th most popular park in the UK.

Trustee Vacancies

We are looking to strengthen our established Board of Trustees with two Independent Trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of the Bradgate Park Trust.

The Trust's Committee of Management (Board of Trustees) consists of 12 Trustees and is responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of the Bradgate Park Trust. The Board meets regularly to discuss, decide and review our strategies and policies and receive reports and updates from the Trust's senior managers. This role is voluntary and the Trustees' role is to make sure we are working to meet the aspirations of the strategic plan and managing the Trust's assets for the benefit of wildlife and people (the Charity's beneficiaries).

We are particularly looking for individuals with skills and expertise in natural and manmade heritage, education and lifelong learning, commercial development in the tourism/leisure/hospitality sector, strategic fundraising and marketing.

Most of all however, we are looking for life skills and passion to help us deliver and grow high quality, accessible and diverse services.

We are committed to diversity and aim to ensure that the composition of the Board of Trustees reflects the community at large.

Time commitment

This is a voluntary role requiring attendance at up to four Board Meetings a year, and an annual StudyDay. Trustees are also encouraged to participate in joint working groups with Managers and attend Trust events.
