Vacancy for Non-Executive Chair
Join a dynamic team at the forefront of tackling Climate Change
The Confederation of Forest Industries (Confor) is the UK representative body for the forestry and wood processing sector.
Planting more trees and promoting an increasing use of wood products will play an ever more important role in tackling climate change. This is therefore an opportunity for you to be a key player in a team at the very forefront of the UK’s climate change mitigation ambitions. A chance to help make a real difference.
The forestry sector has experienced rapid growth in recent decades, not only in the number and variety of jobs available but also its contribution to the economy and increasing political significance. Confor has a key role to play in supporting the future growth of the sector in order to attract high-quality entrants, improve supply chain productivity, inform member’s day-to-day business decision making and support future investment.
Confor is seeking a Chair to be the ’member’s champion‘. You would be working in a small team with an experienced Chief Executive and supported by a Board formed from our membership.
You will play a key role in holding the Confor team to account, striving for high quality member services and engagement, and delivering the business plan.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership and chairing skills. It is preferable but not necessary to have experience in the UK forestry and wood processing industry. However, the successful candidate will need to quickly secure credibility in the industry and outside.
The appointment would be for a one-year term, with the expectation of reappointment for a second one-year term.
The time commitment will average 4-6 days a month – the expected number of days per month is flexible and will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Remuneration will be competitive for this important role.
Applications in writing to email@example.com by 30th June 2020. Virtual interviews will take place two weeks after the closing date.
