Role Description

Fixed Term for up to 12 months

The estimated total commitment is approximately 12 days per year, to include attendance at Board and Committee meetings (around 2 to 3 days per quarter), preparation time and other ad hoc engagements.

ESPO - we are responsible for the supply of goods and services on a not-for-profit basis. Owned by the public sector, this means that we are not solely driven by the profit we make and instead we maximise savings for all of our customers.

Our trading arm (ESPO Trading Limited) is tasked with expanding our services and market share, and the Board is seeking a high-calibre individual to champion the EPSO vision and objectives, challenging board decisions where appropriate, and focussed on sales and marketing of the organisation.

The successful candidate will need recent and relevant Executive Board or Non-Executive Director experience with the tenacity and interpersonal skills to operate in a commercial organisation tasked with delivering against demanding objectives.


  • Relevant Executive Board or Non-Executive Director experience
  • Excellent grasp of business, commercial and operational issues
  • Experience of sales and marketing
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to lead regular, effective engagement with diverse groups and government departments at the most senior levels
  • Proven negotiation skills to influence commercial strategies and policies

Set up in 2018, ESPO Trading Limited is the a private trading arm owned by ESPO the Consortium that gives the opportunity for ESPO to bring its services to a wider audience outside of designated public bodies. This exciting post will join our Board for ESPO Trading Ltd and with a keen focus on sales and marketing; it will ensure that we remain competitive and that our trading arm continues to grow.
