Position Type: Voluntary / Trustee
Farms for City Children is a national Charity with great ambitions – to make sure that all children, especially those from inner cities and disadvantaged backgrounds, have the opportunity to spend meaningful time in the beautiful British countryside learning about good food, exploring the natural world, and learning life-long skills by working together as a team to do lots of purposeful and practical farming tasks. To achieve this we raise charitable donations that enable us to provide heavily subsidised week-long visits to our three farms for groups of 8-13 year old children who can really benefit for a week-in-wellies. During term time we host visits from school groups from inner cities and deprived communities, whilst during the school holidays we are keen to begin welcoming other groups of children who face disadvantage - this might include looked after children, young carers, youth groups from deprived communities, military children, or others.
As we move towards our 45th anniversary and begin the process of developing our new strategy we are looking for dynamic individuals to join our volunteer Board of Trustees to help lead the way. We are particularly keen to receive applications for the roles of Finance Trustee, Education & Safeguarding Trustee, and Countryside, Food and Farming Trustee. As a Trustee you will use your skills, knowledge, experience and personal attributes to guide the strategic direction, ensure good governance, and raise the profile of the Charity.
You don’t have to have experience of working in the Charity sector so don’t be put off if you haven’t already been a Trustee. We want to hear from anyone who is passionate about the work we do and the children we support and hope to receive applications from a wide-range of candidates from diverse backgrounds. We’re looking for a great mix of people who are can bring important skills and new perspectives to the Board. So long as you have a high level of personal integrity and heaps of energy and enthusiasm for the work of Farms for City Children, please get in touch.
