Chair - Genomics England
* Paid Role * Remuneration: £26,600 per annum
Genomics England is leading the world in genomics research and medicine by sequencing genomes at an unprecedented scale and leading the analysis that will transform our understanding of genetic diseases. This pioneering work is already making a difference to the lives of people whose genomes have been sequenced: 1 in 5 rare disease patients have received a diagnosis and half of cancer patients have been directed to new trials or treatment plans. The power to identify diseases before they are apparent shifts the focus to preventative and personalised healthcare, and can deliver immense financial benefits to global economies, reducing the need for care and allowing people to live healthier, more productive lives.
This is a pivotal time for Genomics England as it evolves from a project-based organisation to a scalable, government-owned company and global hub within a new ecosystem of genomics research. With the appointment of a new Chief Executive last year, the organisation is well-positioned to fulfil its mission of embedding genomics and personalised medicine within the NHS.
Genomics England is seeking a Chair to lead its high-profile board in this unique challenge. The Chair will bring exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a complex stakeholder landscape. S/he will be an ambassador for Genomics England and an advocate for this rapidly evolving field. S/he may come from any sector, though a passion to deliver transformative healthcare and an interest in scaling new technology is essential.
Genomics England has retained Russell Reynolds Associates to advise on this appointment. For further information about the position and additional details on qualifications, requirements, terms and conditions of service and how to apply, please follow the link below to the position specification.
