Job Function: Non Executive Director
Industry: Digital / Technology, Science / Environment

Genomics England is leading the world in genomics research and medicine by sequencing genomes at an unprecedented scale and leading the analysis that will transform our understanding of genetic diseases. This pioneering work is already making a difference to the lives of people whose genomes have been sequenced: 1 in 5 rare disease patients have received a diagnosis and half of cancer patients have been directed to new trials or treatment plans. The power to identify diseases before they are apparent shifts the focus to preventative and personalised healthcare, and can deliver immense financial benefits to global economies, reducing the need for care and allowing people to live healthier, more productive lives.
This is a pivotal time for Genomics England as it evolves from a project-based organisation to a scalable, government-owned company and global hub within a new ecosystem of genomics research. With the appointment of a new Chief Executive last year, the organisation is well-positioned to fulfil its mission of embedding genomics and personalised medicine within the NHS.
We are seeking independent Non-Executive Directors to join our board and committees to contribute to the effective strategic and operational leadership of the organisation and provide challenge and support to a wide variety of management and operational issues.
Successful applicants will be those most able to demonstrate expertise in at least one of the following:
Scaling services on digital platforms in the healthcare sector (from an applications, machine learning, or architecture and infrastructure perspective);
Leading growth businesses (with particular focus on academia and/or life sciences, in translational research or providing clinical healthcare services).
Naturally you should have strong communication skills, including the ability to offer challenge and support in a constructive, straightforward and open manner, and the ability to influence effectively in complex organisations operating in a political environment.
Please note that these are appointments requiring ministerial approval. A respect for and understanding of the principles of public life would be advantageous.
Genomics England is partnering with Audeliss for these appointments. For further details please contact Audeliss in confidence on 0203 405 6910 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
