Hope House School is a small independent special school for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 years who have an autism spectrum disorder. The Charity has reserves and deliver high quality services to its pupils.
The Charity is looking to recruit a number of Trustees to the Board to provide oversight and guidance in the development of the Charity's activities. The Trustees will provide governance to the charity in fulfilling its Charitable Objects.
The Charity delivers education to 28 pupils with autism spectrum disorders from its site in the east midlands having been established for over 10 years. The school has 48 employees both full and part time and the principal reports into the trustees who have the ultimate decision making powers as regards the operations.
The Trustees will look to oversee the agreed budget and delivery of services which will then be delegated down to the Charities employees.
The time requirements for the trustees will vary dependant on the requirements and the decisions to be made during any given calendar year. It is anticipate that the role can be fulfilled by meetings and reviewing of documentation which will be left to the discretion of the trustees. A day to day site presence is not anticipated.
Given the role as trustee and the governance requirements we would anticipate that the individual will have good communication skills and the ability to analyse information and then seek to make decisions based on their understanding.
The role is not remunerated however training will be supported for trustees where they believe that there skills require further development.
The role envisages the overall responsibility for the organisation and as such financial and employment experience will be of assistance but is not essential. The Charity does have advisors in those areas to support the Trustees.
The Charity is focused on the education and support with children and as such experience in this sector would be of assistance however it is not essential.
