Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust – Associate Non-Executive Director

Associate Non-Executive Director - Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a new Associate Non-executive Director. This is an exceptional opportunity to share your talents and expertise to make a positive difference to the lives of people in the communities served by the Trust
An organisation of 2,800 staff, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading mental health trusts in the country. We are a multi-specialty health and social care provider of integrated health care services across Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Whitby, Scarborough, and Ryedale, serving a population of 765,000 people of all ages. We provide community and therapy services, primary care, community and inpatient mental health services, learning disability services, healthy lifestyle support and addictions services. We also provide specialist services for children including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and support for children and their families who are experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties. The Trust also runs Whitby Hospital, a community hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and community services to Whitby and the surrounding area, and nine GP practices – two in Hull and seven in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

This is an exciting time to consider joining our Trust. We have retained our ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission and in 2019 we were awarded the Mental Health Provider of the Year at the Health Service Journal Awards. Our core values are ‘caring, learning and growing’, and our vision is to be a leading provider of integrated health services, recognised for the care, compassion and commitment of our staff and known as a great employer and a valued partner.

We are seeking a new Associate Non-Executive Director who is able to challenge constructively to think and deliver differently and help us stretch our resources for maximum reach on behalf of local communities and citizens. We invite you to bring your insight, experience and entrepreneurial approach to assimilate and analyse complex information and use findings to influence, shape, transform services in unconventional ways, meet challenges, resolve issues and have the courage and confidence to speak out to challenge the status quo.

Your values really matter to us too; if you support and value public service, share our values and behaviours, believe you can champion the standards of public life and can show you have influenced beyond the sphere of your role, the Chair would value a discussion. We are seeking applications from people from a broad range of backgrounds, however in order to diversify the knowledge, skills and life experiences of our Board leadership team, applications are particularly encouraged from those who:

  • Are from a BAME background
  • Have experience of gender and women’s issues
  • Are a younger person
  • Are open about their faith,
  • Have an understanding of or have experienced social deprivation and used this to influence positively
  • Live with a disability
  • Are openly LGBTQ+

Whilst this post does not have voting rights, candidates will need to demonstrate that they can work alongside other non-executives and executive colleagues as an equal member of the board.

If you are interested in the role and would like to have a confidential conversation, please contact Julia St Clare, Robin Staveley or Mark Bate on 0203 854 2203 or at julia.stclare@gatenbysanderson.com
