Board members – ICAEW Regulatory Board
ICAEW is a world-leading professional membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports over 144,000 chartered accountants worldwide. It performs a representative role for members as well as being a statutory (audit, insolvency, financial and legal services) and non-statutory regulator, supervising and, where necessary, disciplining members.
The new ICAEW Regulatory Board (IRB) will be responsible for overseeing the professional standards activities and statutory regulatory role of ICAEW including the development of policies, actions and the regulatory plan.
The IRB is recruiting 12 new members (with a minimum of 6 lay members) to work with the chair to ensure the IRB continues to fulfil ICAEW’s role as a cogent and independent regulator protecting the ultimate consumers of ICAEW’s services.
Strong candidates for this appointment must have substantial board or committee experience, and ideally, some relevant understanding of professional or corporate regulation standards and discipline. Critically, candidates must possess an informed appreciation not only of the services provided by ICAEW Chartered Accountants but also of the role, concept and contribution of a chartered professional body in public life and the wider economy.
The IRB will meet up to five times a year at Chartered Accountants’ Hall in London. Travel expenses to and from board meetings will be reimbursed for all members. Lay members will also receive remuneration for attending these meetings.
These are independent board appointments and are therefore not open to members of the ICAEW main board or council.

The closing date for applications is 15 April 2015.
