The Lancashire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is a strategic collaboration between business, universities and local councils which directs economic growth and job creation in the area.
Our vision is to create a strong, inclusive and enterprising business base, operating in an exceptional and connected environment, and where the transfer of high value manufacturing, digital technology and skills fosters innovation, investment and economic growth. This strong strategic focus has enabled us to secure a £1 billion growth plan and bring forward over 80 major capital growth initiatives. Whilst all parts of Lancashire have benefited from these ambitious growth programmes and investment plans, half of these initiatives are within the five most deprived areas, reflecting the LEP’S ambition to drive inclusive economic growth.
We are continuing to develop a vibrant economy, putting business at the heart of our work, and removing barriers to growth so that sustainable jobs and prosperity can be created. As the voice of the local business community, we are ensuring that the economic interests of the area as a whole are represented and promoted and believe passionately that Lancashire is alive with opportunities; a truly great place to live, work and do business.
We are now looking for a collaborative business leader to chair the LEP Board and build on the exciting initiatives already in place. As the new Chair you will also lead our response to the economic impact of the pandemic, building back stronger through investment in skills and business support, and supporting the local economy to create thousands more jobs, boosting the economic performance across our whole county.
Already recognised as a successful business leader you will have the commercial acumen, board level experience, and strategic leadership skills that will create confidence with public and private sector partners. This combined with your knowledge of Lancashire and the north-west business environment will also give you the credibility to represent the area at a regional and national level.
As Chair you will ensure that the LEP functions effectively within a framework of corporate governance and transparency in line with the LEP's robust structures, and with a style that encourages a collaborative approach to setting strategic priorities and decision making.
