The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER)

Chair of the Board of Trustees

NFER is the UK’s leading independent provider of education research and analysis. It is a registered charity with an income of £15.5 million and 200 staff. Our research, assessments and other services are widely known, highly respected and used by key decision makers in the UK and internationally. Improving the lives of children and young people is at the heart of everything we do.

We are now seeking to appoint a new Chair to succeed Richard Bunker, who is retiring from the Board after many years at NFER. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to education by leading the Board and working closely with other Trustees, the Chief Executive, her Senior Management Team and the staff of NFER, all of whom have a wide range of expertise and experience.

The Chair will lead the Board at an important stage in the organisation’s development as it moves forward in achieving its strategic objectives. Candidates must have a substantial record of successful work at a senior level as a Chair or senior Trustee/Director of an organisation; be able to act strategically and effectively lead a team of expert and experienced Trustees; be well informed about the charity sector; and have a genuine affinity with the values and aims of NFER.

The position is unremunerated but travel and other expenses will be reimbursed.

Further information about NFER is available on the website – www.nfer.ac.uk
