TfL’s purpose is to keep London moving, working and growing. The Museum supports this through explaining London’s history and its transport system over the last 200 years, transforming and inspiring our next generation to contribute to the future thinking, innovation and growth of London.
We’re now seeking three Non Executive Directors to join our Enterprise Board to contribute to an exciting new direction and phase of our business growth. Contributing to our entrepreneurial strategy and activities, you’ll help us deliver our 5 year business plan ensuring that we maximise on all of our growth opportunities. Our goal is to be reach l financial sustainability by 2021. We’ve got plenty of opportunities to drive growth through ticketing, events, corporate sponsorships/memberships, retail and online promoting our Hidden London Tours Programme at disused stations and secret sites right across London.
Our Enterprise board meet each quarter, and a further 2/3 away-days per annum which with familiarising yourself with our activities and staff demand a commitment of up to -20 days per year. You’ll be involved in both statutory scrutiny, provide expertise and powerful and far-reaching advocacy on our future growth. We encourage our NEDs to be our critical friends, constructively challenging and providing hands on strategic input to our overall goals enhancing digitisation, online trading, digital marketing, CRM and charitable funding.
You are currently an executive leader at CEO/COO level with entrepreneurial and commercial experience ideally at Board level. Or you may already be a Trustee/ Non Executive Director with a industry experience within the charities/3rd sector, consumer services, retail, leisure/entertainment/media, Arts/Culture or high technology industry with a great on-line trading provision. Either way, you’ll have experience of driving revenue growth through a multi-channelled sales and marketing and digital strategy.
A proven background in either of the following is required:
- Online Trading – understanding of the online retail environment and maximisation of profitable online environments
- Fundraising and Individual Giving - development of innovative partnerships to address the corporate social responsibility agenda
- Digital – realising our sales and marketing potential through multi channelled digital platforms and content
- Cultural Sector CEO/COO supporting us on key relationships such as, The Arts Council England, National Heritage Lottery Fund
You will be fascinated by the challenge and the chance to directly contribute to the heart of London’s transport heritage and excited by helping to realise the potential offered by the Museum’s outstanding ‘toy box’ of iconic collections – the red Routemaster bus, the Underground Map, Johnston typeface, posters and artwork, Tube trains and the roundel to name but a few.
You will have exceptional ambassadorial, advocacy and negotiating skills.
