Appointment of Chair and Committee Members
The Statistics Advisory Committee (SAC) is a non-departmental public body of the Department of Finance (DoF), established under the Statistics of Trade and Employment (NI) Order 1988. SAC’s function is to advise the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) and thereby Northern Ireland Departments, on matters relating to the collection and disclosure of statistical information from businesses under the Statistics of Trade and Employment (NI) Order 1988; and to advise on statistical issues such as quality assurance, official statistics, and other similar matters referred to it by Departments.
DoF is seeking to appoint a new Chair and up to nine members of SAC. It is the Department’s intention that appointees will be in place by early 2020. The term of the appointments will be for five years. The expected time commitment amounts to approximately three days per year for members and six days per year for the Chair. These are non-remunerated posts. Following appointment, travel and subsistence expenses will be paid at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates.
There are no specific academic/professional qualifications required to apply for these positions. However we are looking for individuals with a diverse range of expertise and specialist knowledge who can make an effective contribution to our Committee based on their skills and experience.
