Two local authorities have taken the ambitious step of delivering their adult services via a Local Authority Trading Company. This new venture is looking for a dynamic leader who can support the executive team to think laterally and take the Company and its workforce forward, and deliver high quality services for their residents.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Wokingham Borough Council are forming a partnership to deliver their adult social care services through Optalis Limited.
Optalis is a dynamic and successful Local Authority Trading Company created in 2011, currently owned by Wokingham Borough Council. The new jointly owned Optalis will have over 600 staff and a turnover in excess of £50m per annum.
The key initial focus for the role will be to lead the bedding-in of the new partnership between the two Councils, as Optalis takes up responsibility for the delivery of the Royal Borough’s Adult Social Care services.
You will be a prominent individual with strong commercial experience and the ability to understand and operate effectively within the public sector.
You will be highly visible and be an effective champion for the Company. You will take responsibility for leadership of the Board, ensuring that the strategic direction of the Company is identified and implemented.
Commercial board experience is important and knowledge/experience of the care sector advantageous. Experience of organisational leadership and management at the highest corporate level is a must.
Commitment in time is not prescriptive. The Chair will be expected to attend monthly Board Meetings and quarterly Shareholder Meetings, plus other days as required to carry out the role.
The position is remunerated at a rate of £20k per annum and appropriate expenses will be covered.
