Skills for Health Ltd is a registered charity and the holding company for a group of organisations that provide workforce development support to over 65% of public services including health, local government, fire and rescue, police, prisons, probation, and the armed services. Our brands include “Skills for Health”, “Skills for Justice”, “National Skills Academy for Health”, “SFJ Awards”, and “Doctors Rostering”. Following a merger of Skills for Health and Skills for Justice in 2015, we are now the sector Skills Council for the Health and Justice sectors. We are committed to the development of improved and sustainable workforces across the UK.
Both the health and justice sectors are in the midst of unprecedented change and we believe that we are central to supporting employers to make the necessary transformational changes that are needed. We have gained a reputation for excellence and expertise, and have a significant track record of supporting employers to manage change. Locally, nationally, and internationally, some of the best known and highest profile organisations have benefited from our support. They trust us to make a difference and to help them with reliable, sustainable, value-for-money solutions that drive up skills, productivity, and quality, and enable them to provide high quality public services.
We have completed our transition from a centrally funded organisation to a customer focused self-sustaining charity. We have established a sound financial foundation and have a range of new opportunities to support our sectors to optimise the development and utilization of their workforce. As we enter the next and exciting phase of our continued development, we are seeking to recruit a high-calibre Chair to help us build on our success. You will Chair the Skills for Health Ltd parent company, leading the Trustees, working closely with both the Company Secretary and the Chief Executive, and providing leadership and support in the running of the Charity. You will have a demonstrable track record as an effective Chair, a strategic mindset and a deep knowledge of the sectors we operate within. With significant personal gravitas and influence, you will have a reputation for successful leadership and be highly skilled at engaging with a wide range of senior stakeholders and decision makers.
We hope you are motivated by our ambitions, and if you feel you have the right experience and skills we would love to hear from you.
Closing date for applications: Sunday 16th October.
