With a forward-thinking, ambitious Board and an engaged and committed workforce, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust has a unique opportunity to influence game changing transformation across its local health economy, whilst developing sector leading, innovative and new patient led services for its local population and beyond.
The Trust currently provides a comprehensive range of high quality acute and community services for people living in Stockport and the High Peak, alongside providing more specialist services to a wider population including residents of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Greater Manchester. It is already a key player in delivering local improvement strategies, having been selected under the ‘Healthier Together’ programme as one of four specialist sites in Greater Manchester for acute medicine and emergency / complex surgery. Looking to the future, the Trust is a key partner in the development of a Multi-Specialty Community Provider (MCP) service for Stockport and is in advanced stages of work with its partners, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Viaduct (a Federation of Stockport GPs) to deliver this innovative Vanguard project for the benefit of patient services across the local health economy.
This is a large, complex and high profile organisation treating one million patients every year, generating an income of £275m and employing c5,000 staff who make amazing things happen every day. To enhance its position and capitalise on new market opportunities, the Trust is looking to pioneer creative solutions to delivering integrated, accessible high quality patient centred services. The Council of Governors seeks to appoint a Chairman who can use their professional experience to:
- Providing independent and inspiring leadership to the Board and Council of Governors through collaboratively setting and delivering the Trust’s strategic aims, including holding executive directors to account
- Work in partnership with all key stakeholders to drive the integration and service sustainability agendas
- Ensure that a patient-centred approach is at the forefront of all Board activities and that public confidence is enhanced
- Act as an ambassador for the Trust, upholding its values, engaging with stakeholders including the local community, patients and their families and ensuring that the Board is aware of their views;
We are particularly keen to talk to candidates offering substantial board level, or equivalent, leadership experience gained from within large, complex health or social care-related organisations coupled with a genuine interest in the local and national health agenda. Specific skill sets of leading large scale strategic business transformation programmes would be of particular interest.
