The Trust currently provides comprehensive acute and community services for people living in Stockport, the High Peak, Tameside and Glossop over 24 sites, alongside providing more specialist services to a wider population, serving residents of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Greater Manchester.    Already a key player in delivering local improvement strategies such as the Healthier Together and DevoManchester programmes, where the Trust has been selected as a specialist site for acute medicine and emergency / complex surgery, the Trust has a refreshed clinical operating strategy.  Pivotal to its delivery, will be using the freedoms of foundation trust status to further enhance the range, quality and scope of its services, whilst continuing to shape the way future health services are delivered locally and across the wider health economy.

This is a large, complex and high profile organisation treating one million patients every year, generating an income of £294M and employing c 6,000 staff who make amazing things happen every day.

To enhance its position, the Trust is looking to pioneer creative solutions to delivering integrated, accessible high quality patient centred services.  The Council  of Governors seeks to appoint two  non- executive directors who can use their professional experience to:

  • Work with fellow directors to set the Trust’s strategic aims, ensuring these are delivered through holding executive directors to account and that public and stakeholder confidence in the organisation is enhanced;
  • Provide independent judgement and advice, working with colleagues to provide inspiring leadership within a framework of effective controls which enable risks to be assessed and managed  whilst ensuring the highest standards of probity;
  • Act as an ambassador for the Trust, upholding its values, engaging with stakeholders including the local community, patients and their families and ensuring that the Board is aware of their views;
  • Bring an independent perspective based on your experience to the work of the Board and its sub-committees, chairing one or more of these.

For our first position, we are particularly keen to talk to candidates offering proven senior leadership experience in commercial / business development where you have delivered real business growth through new channels, joint ventures or business acquisitions.  You will have a keen eye for detail, commercial business flair and outstanding interpersonal skills.  For our second appointment we seek interest in candidates from a human resources and organisational development background, in either the public or private sector, where you have successfully led large scale transformation programmes.  For both roles we are keen to hear from either experienced or aspirant non-executive directors who have worked in a range of different sectors but who share the Trust’s vision and values.
