Board Member for Wales and Chair of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee

Welsh Ministers are looking to appoint the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Board Member for Wales who will also be the Chair of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee (WFAC). The statutory role of the FSA is to protect the health of the public and the interests of consumers in relation to food. The statutory role of the WFAC is to give advice or information to the Agency about matters connected with its functions including matters affecting or otherwise relating to Wales.

As a Member of the FSA Board you will be responsible for ensuring the organisation discharges its statutory duties. You will also set and reinforce the FSA’s core values through the development and monitoring of strategic objectives, plans and policies. As the Board Member for Wales you will advise the FSA Board on matters relating to Wales. In addition to the responsibilities of a Board Member you will also chair the WFAC, to enable the Committee to give advice or information to the FSA about matters connected with its functions relating to Wales.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate the ability to operate on the Board of a major national organisation and at least one of the following criteria:

  • Senior level expertise in public health
  • Senior level experience in financial management or audit/assurance, in the public or private sector
  • Leadership in a technology or data environment
  • In depth understanding of the food sector, at UK or global level
  • Welsh language skills.

The Non-Executive Member of the FSA Board for Wales and Chair of WFAC will receive remuneration of £14,000 per annum for a time commitment of 35 days per annum.

Welsh Ministers determine the length of appointment which will be for up to a maximum of 3 years.

Prior to commencement of the Non-Executive role on 1 July 2020, the successful candidate will be appointed as a member of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee until 30 June 2020.

A WFAC member receives £3,885.00 for 21 days per annum. The successful candidate will be paid pro-rata as a WFAC member until 30 June 2020.

Yn ogystal â chyfrifoldebau Aelod o'r Bwrdd, byddwch chi hefyd yn cadeirio Pwyllgor Cynghori ar Fwyd Cymru, er mwyn galluogi'r Pwyllgor i roi cyngor neu wybodaeth i'r ASB am faterion sy'n gysylltiedig â'i swyddogaethau yng Nghymru.

Bydd gofyn i ymgeiswyr ddangos y gallu i weithredu ar Fwrdd sefydliad cenedlaethol mawr ac o leiaf un o'r meini prawf canlynol:

  • Arbenigedd ar lefel uwch mewn iechyd y cyhoedd
  • Profiad ar lefel uwch mewn rheolaeth ariannol neu archwilio/sicrwydd, yn y sector cyhoeddus neu breifat
  • Arweinyddiaeth mewn amgylchedd technoleg neu ddata
  • Dealltwriaeth fanwl o'r sector bwyd, ar lefel y DU neu yn fyd-eang

Bydd Aelod Anweithredol Bwrdd yr ASB yng Nghymru a Chadeirydd Pwyllgor Cynghori ar Fwyd Cymru yn derbyn tâl cydnabyddiaeth o £14,000 y flwyddyn am ymrwymiad amser o 35 diwrnod y flwyddyn.

Gweinidogion Cymru sy'n pennu hyd y penodiad a fydd am hyd at 3 blynedd ar y mwyaf.

Cyn cychwyn ar y rôl Anweithredol ar 1 Gorffennaf 2020, bydd yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus yn cael ei benodi'n aelod o Bwyllgor Cynghori ar Fwyd Cymru tan 30 Mehefin 2020.

Mae aelod o Bwyllgor Cynghori ar Fwyd Cymru yn cael £3,885 am 21 diwrnod y flwyddyn. Bydd yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus yn cael ei dalu pro-rata fel aelod o’r Pwyllgor hyd at 30 Mehefin 2020.
