United Bible Societies (UBS) is a fellowship of 148 Bible Societies working in over 240 countries and territories. We believe the Bible is for everyone so we are working towards the day when everyone can access the Bible in the language and medium of their choice. Consequently, we translate, publish and distribute the Bible, help people engage with the Bible, and are also active in areas such as literacy training, HIV/ AIDS education and trauma healing.

In order to achieve our strategic aims of expanding and extending the access to the Bible around the world, UBS needs the wise governance of a strong Board of Trustees. We seek a Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee with wisdom to weigh risks in the light of our global ministry, balancing a faith-filled mind-set with the rigour to assess challenges and monitor our global impact. The Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee will apply their strategic financial leadership experience within a strong governance context, in providing professional and Board expertise in the areas of finance, audit and risk management. The Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee will also be a Trustee on the Board.

The Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee will be a key aide to the Board’s good stewardship of precious resources and trusted reputation and will ensure we operate at the highest standards of probity, compliance and risk-management. With accountancy qualifications and ideally prior exposure to charity accounts, the Chair of Finance and Audit will work particularly closely with the Chair of the Board and members of the Global Mission Leadership Team. The Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee will help mature the Board’s exercise of stewardship, helping trustees without financial management experience understand and participate in this aspect of their responsibilities.
