Chair - Seafish Scottish Advisory Committee (SSAC)

Reference:1304
Remuneration:unremunerated
Location:Various locations throughout Scotland
Closing date:20 September 2017 at midday

Seafish is forming a Seafish Scottish Advisory Committee (SSAC) to enhance the work we carry out in Scotland. The SSAC will cement our partnership approach to delivery and will be a key element of our wider local engagement strategy.

We are seeking a Chairperson to provide leadership and direction to the SSAC members and enable the committee to fulfil its responsibilities and formulate proposals for investment of levy in Scotland. The Chairperson will ensure that recommendations of SSAC are given due consideration within the Seafish decision making process.

It is expected that the Chairperson will work closely with the Seafish Scotland team and the SSAC members, helping them to achieve the SSAC's objective in Scotland. We are seeking someone who can bring their skills and experience to the committee and facilitate SSAC meetings in a stimulating, well-rounded and carefully considered way to achieve strategic decision-making.

This is an influential role that will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the willingness to challenge and a proven ability to drive consensus. It would be helpful, but not essential, for the Chairperson to have knowledge of the seafood industry in Scotland.

SSAC will meet at least twice a year, with secretarial support and Seafish staff attendance. The Chair is expected to attend all of these meetings. Meetings will take place at various locations throughout Scotland, and are expected to last around three hours. The exact timings of the meetings will depend upon the location, and overnight stays will be kept to a minimum.

The position is unremunerated, and is for an initial three year term. All reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid. Appointment will be made based on merit; Seafish is committed to equality and diversity.
