\'\'Right from the start of the Marketing for Non-Marketing Directors course, the importance of marketing strategy to the future of any company was made plain; Duncan was very clear about the pivotal nature of the role of the board in marketing strategy, and the consequences - for the long-term sustainability of the company - of failure to engage. Non-Executive Board Member - Glasgow Colleges’ Regional Board (GCRB)

Reference: 3919
Remuneration: not remunerated
Location: Glasgow City
Closing date: 28 May 2021 at midnight

Could you help to shape the future of education in Glasgow?

Glasgow Colleges’ Regional Board (GCRB) is leading the region through a period of significant change and, as a result, there has never been a more important or exciting time to join us as a non-executive Board member.

Glasgow’s learners are at the heart of every decision we make and you’ll be part of shaping these ambitious, regional and collaborative plans as part of Scotland’s largest college region.

Responsible for £200million annually, GCRB works with Glasgow’s three colleges, City of Glasgow College, Glasgow Clyde College and Glasgow Kelvin College. We focus on successful outcomes for our employers, 2,300 staff and 55,000 learners. Together, the region helps people to build their careers, develop ambitions and strengthen the wider community and economy.

Glasgow Colleges’ Regional Board ensures high quality education for the Glasgow college region and is responsible for strategic planning of college provision across the region; governance and monitoring of performance; and allocation of funding to Glasgow’s colleges. Recent regional initiatives have focused on additional support for Glasgow’s learners, including increasing mental health support and services across Glasgow’s three colleges, commitment to developing effective environmental and sustainability strategies and increased support for care-experienced learners through successful partnership projects.

We are working towards our ambition to build Scotland’s most inclusive, most responsive and most effective regional college system and our non-executive Board members play a significant role in helping us achieve this.

We currently have three non-executive Board member vacancies and would welcome applicants with working knowledge of the region's tertiary education system and/or the regional economy and business/SME partnerships. We are also interested in hearing from those with knowledge or experience of community/third sector leadership and partnerships, change programmes and the political environment, and the implications of climate change for the regional economy and education.

GCRB seeks to be a diverse and representative board, and is keen to receive applications from members of groups currently underrepresented on public sector boards. Board members serve on a voluntary basis, with reasonable travel expenses paid, and normally participate in around five Board and five Committee meetings each year. For more information about the GCRB please visit our website: http://www.gcrb.ac.uk

Applications will be received until Friday 28 May 2021. For a full information and application pack please visit the website link as follows: http://www.gcrb.ac.uk/contactus/vacancies
