Business / Organisation Type: Foundation or Trust
Role Title: Non-Executive Director
Remuneration: Paid

Role Description

It is an exciting time for the Trust as we continue to grow and develop to meet the needs of the 850,000 population we serve. The Trust has annual turnover of circa £575 million. The Trust includes three hospitals in Peterborough, Huntingdon and Stamford and supports community clinics in Doddington, Ely and Wisbech. We are a busy Trust, with close to 7,000 staff.

We are a forward-thinking organisation with large scale capital development plans requiring strategic oversight and assurance from the non-executive team. We are already redeveloping Hinchingbrooke hospital and are bidding for funds to enable us to rebuild it. We also have plans to improve and develop the Peterborough hospital site which will help us address the health inequalities that exist in our area and operational and staff pressures that the whole of the NHS is facing.

Given these exciting plans we are seeking a financially qualified and commercially minded person with a background in or understanding of strategic estates leadership and large capital programmes. You may be asked to be the non-executive lead for our major capital development programme or take on the Chair of Audit role in the future.

Alternatively, candidates could bring a strategic digital leadership background alongside their financial qualification and knowledge to assist us in driving forward with improvements and modernisation of systems and services with our partners.

We are looking for someone who can add value to the board through their experiences, perspective and strategic insights as well as their ability to seek assurance from, and hold to account, the executive team in a collaborative manner.

With the creation of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System we soon form part of a statutory partnership between NHS, local authority and third sector across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. The ability to see things at a system level and the willingness to collaborate with partners for the greater good will be key in this role.

Experience of working within the NHS is not essential. A collaborative, inquisitive, supportive, open and honest approach is more important. It will be your duty to ensure effective governance, consistent with the Nolan principles and NHS values, alongside assisting in developing a long-term vision and strategy for the Trust with the executive directors and Council of Governors.

We value and promote diversity and appreciate the best leadership teams reflect the communities they serve. We strongly encourage applications from people across groups that are underrepresented. Most importantly, we recognise that skills and experience can be lived as well as learnt. The Trust is accredited as a Disability Confident employer, and we will ensure that people with disabilities are afforded equal opportunity to progress if and where possible.
