The course was well constructed and delivered by David who has extensive knowledge of a range of boards, their structure and governance. It was particularly helpful to me as I am new to applying for NED roles and the guidance made me totally rethink what is required from the application process – i.e. this is not an operational role! The delegate group was of a suitable size to allow for interaction and sharing of ideas and experience

I attended this course shortly after starting my first Non-Executive Director role and found David’s expertise and insight to be invaluable. The course also covers practical things such as how to go about finding Non-Executive Director roles – and so last week (6 months after I attended the course) I started my second NED role, and have an interview for a third one next week. NDA announces new Chair of the Sellafield Ltd Board
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s (NDA) CEO, David Peattie, has today announced that Tony Meggs CB has been appointed as the new Chair of NDA subsidiary, Sellafield Ltd.Tony will take up his post for a three-year term on 3rd May 2021, replacing Lorraine Baldry who has led the Sellafield Board since May 2018 as Sellafield Chair. Tony will report directly to David Peattie.

Tony brings a huge breadth of leadership experience and his insight on major infrastructure projects and the energy sector will be invaluable to Sellafield. I look forward to working with him and know he will have a significant impact on Sellafield Ltd.
Tony is an experienced Chair and senior executive leader with 30 years’ experience across the public and private sector. Most recently Tony was Chair of Crossrail, engaged in 2019 to oversee the integration phase of the project. Significantly, Tony held several senior roles at BP and as Head of Technology was responsible for the organisation’s central project and engineering functions and R&D.
He co-founded the BP Projects Academy, building a cohort of leaders to maximise the success of the organisation’s global projects, which later became the inspiration for the Government’s Major Projects Leadership Academy. More recently, Tony was able to gain first-hand experience of the Sellafield nuclear site and the size, scale and complexity of its work, in his role as Chief Executive of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority.
