We strive every day to give people the help they need, and we campaign relentlessly to achieve our vision of a safe, secure, affordable home for everyone. We are now at the exciting stage of
developing a new organisational strategy to maximise our impact.

We want to offer more ways for people to engage with our mission. Innovative thinking is at the heart and we are looking for dynamic individuals who will challenge, help shape the future and support the delivery of a refreshed focus for the organisation.

To that end, we are looking to appoint to ensure our Board has the broadest diversity of experience that truly reflects our society.

Where do you come in…?

We are seeking candidates who bring strong governance skills and experience of senior leadership, as well as a proven record of significant achievement in your own field, ideally within a substantial or complex organisation, used to operating at a strategic level, confronting challenges and facilitating initiatives. We also seek individuals with a broad range of influencing and enabling skills, who display keen judgement, and give evidence of facilitating strategic transformation. A commitment to Shelter's mission, Vision and Values, and a willingness to devote time to carry out responsibilities are critical.

We are seeking to add the following areas of expertise to the Board and are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who could lead in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance, audit and risk
  • Fundraising and business development
  • Housing and the housing issues faced by many in the UK

With these responsibilities come the satisfaction and empowerment of knowing that your commitment will make a direct difference to Shelter and help millions of people fight homelessness.
